WSH Management is actively seeking a Controller to join the team in Irvine, CA.

Reports to: Vice President

Hours/Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

Work environment: Onsite / In-office

About the role:

WSH Management is seeking a motivated and experienced Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess proven experience as a Controller or in a senior financial leadership role within the real estate industry, specifically focusing on affordable housing. The Controller will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the organization's strategic growth. 

Controller Job Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and timely corporate financial records and reports.
  • Lead financial analysis and planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, to support informed decision-making and maintain the company’s financial strength.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly corporate financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all Accounting Policies and Procedures are current in The Strategic Solution software.
  • Provide meaningful financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic and operational objectives.
  • Develop and track Monthly Vital Factors Reports.
  • Develop, review, and update corporate accounting policies and procedures as needed.
  • Manage banking relationships and oversee corporate cash flow and liquidity management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors; coordinate and ensure timely completion of annual corporate audits.
  • Manage banking relationships with all banks.
  • Review, record, and ensure timely payment of all corporate and property credit card transactions, avoiding late fees and interest charges.
  • Be company liaison and Database Administrator for Yardi Property Management Software.
  • Process and review corporate expense reports for compliance and timeliness.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with corporate loan payments, insurance payments, and other key financial obligations.
  • Operate accounting software and systems to record, store, and analyze corporate financial data.
  • Serve as liaison and database administrator for corporate modules of Yardi.
  • Coordinate with IT to address corporate finance and property system needs and related issues.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and company financial policies and regulations.
  • Foster positive relationships with corporate stakeholders, lenders, and external partners.
  • Respond promptly to audit inquiries and provide required documentation.
  • Perform other related corporate finance duties or special projects as assigned.


Our ideal Controller candidate:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; an MBA or CPA is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in a leadership role, managing teams in challenging environments.
  • Background in property management, particularly with government-subsidized properties, is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to execute financial reports under tight timelines, demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with Yardi software or similar financial management systems.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards within the property management industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Experience working in smaller companies with direct reports and a hands-on approach to leadership.
  • The candidate will be required to pass a background and drug screening. (A conviction will not necessarily disqualify you from employment with WSH Management.)
