FIESTA Kids Group Facilitator - Santa Fe county area

Must have a New Mexico residential address.

Essential Functions: Under direct supervision of the Statewide Supervisor, the Kids’ Group Facilitator (KGF) is responsible for the direct supervision, safety and wellbeing of children during parent trainings and support groups. The KGF will coordinate with other KGF, Statewide Supervisor and Family Advocates to provide safe, developmentally appropriate activities and prosocial learning opportunities for any children in their care. The KGF is responsible for closely following the curriculum for each group and reporting any deviation to the FIESTA Family Advocate/s who are facilitating the event.

Work Schedule: Part time - below 20 hours per week

Education Required:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • One year childcare experience.

Specific Duties:

1. Interacts appropriately with children and their parents.

2. Encourages children to express themselves in the group setting.

3. Leads children through activity based processing of individual and shared experiences of their adoption story.

4. Monitors safety issues.

5. Provides consistent redirection and enthusiastic encouragement.

6. Ensures event sign in sheets are filled out completely and submitted.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Must be energetic, motivated and dependable.

2. Must be able to pass a CYFD clearance and participate in training.

3. Excellent communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.

4. Ability to handle stressful situations and tactfully deal with all levels of staff.

5. Bilingual skills are highly desirable.

6. Ability to function as a team member, with initiative and flexibility.

7. Comfortable working with families and children.

8. Awareness of, and sensitivity to, cultural and socio-economic characteristics of individuals and families.

9. Computer Literacy.
