A dynamic school social worker opportunity is available in Lansing, MI, serving a K-12 setting for the entire school year under a contract arrangement. This role focuses on supporting students, families, and school staff through comprehensive behavioral and social services that promote a positive educational environment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Over five years of experience working closely with children, their families, and the educational support systems surrounding them.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing Positive Behavior Support Systems.
- Experience engaging with and addressing the needs of a diverse student population.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting timely evaluations for general education students referred for special education services and performing re-evaluations for students already receiving support.
- Clearly communicating evaluation findings to parents and school personnel.
- Participating actively in Individualized Education Program Committee (IEPC) meetings and Manifestation Determination Reviews (MDRs).
- Serving on multidisciplinary evaluation teams, including acting as a MET representative when assigned.
- Contributing to staff development initiatives, in-service training, and parent education sessions as needed.
- Assisting staff in developing and implementing individualized behavioral plans.
- Performing additional duties as necessary to effectively support students within the Lansing school community.
