About Job

At Transformative Justice Mental Health Clinic (TJMHC), we believe mental health care must do more than stabilize symptoms—it must restore dignity, build accountability, and create space for real healing. Our work centers individuals and families impacted by the criminal legal system, and our approach is grounded in cultural responsiveness, trauma-informed practices, and an unwavering commitment to justice.

We are seeking a part-time Counselor to join our team of clinicians dedicated to healing the wounds that often go unseen. If you are a thoughtful, grounded therapist who understands the impact of trauma and systemic injustice—and wants to be part of something bigger—you may be a perfect fit.

The Role

As a Counselor at TJMHC, you will provide individual therapy to clients navigating trauma, behavioral health challenges, and system-related stressors. You’ll have the flexibility to shape your caseload by age population (children 12+, adolescents, adults), modality (telehealth, in-person, or hybrid), and areas of clinical focus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations for behavioral health and/or substance use disorders
  • Provide individual therapy using trauma-informed, evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team of NPs, therapists, and case managers
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in our EHR
  • Participate in case reviews and team-based clinical discussions as needed
  • Contribute to a culture of care rooted in compassion, accountability, and equity

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Clinical Social Work from an accredited institution
  • Active associate license in Kentucky (CSW, LPCA, MFTA, LPATA, LPA, or CPsy)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings
  • Professional liability coverage ($1M/$3M minimum)
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered practice
  • Independent, reliable, and open to collaboration in a mission-driven environment

Why Join TJMHC?

  • Justice-Aligned Practice – Work with people whose healing is too often overlooked
  • Flexible Hours – Create a schedule that works for your life and your clients’ needs
  • High-Impact, Low-Ego – Join a team committed to purpose over prestige
  • Clinical Growth – Engage in regular consultation, training, and interdisciplinary support
  • Community-Rooted – Help build a new kind of mental health clinic—one where everyone belongs

Additional Info

  • Background check and license verification required prior to onboarding
  • Contractors are responsible for their own supplies and equipment
  • Must follow TJMHC policies and documentation standards
