Position: Behavior Interventionist- Grant-Funded

Location: Ferndale Lower Elementary

Reports to: Building Principal

Salary: Per FEA Master Agreement

Start Date: August 2025
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelors, Masters preferred
  • Teaching certification preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of research-based behavior interventions and strategies used in K-12 education
  • Preferred experience coaching or supporting K-12 educators in the areas of classroom management, trauma-informed education, and restorative practices.
  • Proven classroom management and organizational skills
  • Background working in a diverse community
  • Solid understanding of social emotional supports that are needed to gain academic proficiency
  • Strong collaborator
  • Understanding of culturally responsive teaching practices
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide behavior interventions, which reflect current best practices, individually and/or through small flexible group instruction
  • Assist with data collection, development support plans, and monitor implementation
  • Develop and sustain relationships with students
  • Work collaboratively with parents and staff to involve all stakeholders in the educational process to create positive and meaningful outcomes for each student in terms of behavior and achievement
  • Supervise school entry, breakfast, lunch dismissal, and transitions to ensure they are safe, efficient, and functional for all school community members.
  • Lead the coordination and implementation of a school-wide behavior management system with meaningful incentives and consequences.
  • Collaborate with other district offices and departments to improve outcomes for all students.
  • Create and ensure a culture that supports students' academic achievement and social-emotional well-being, understanding the relationship between the two.
  • Enforce district student code of conduct while supporting and counseling students that struggle to adjust to the school community.
  • Model and demonstrate ethical and responsible leadership.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain a planned program of re-entry strategies that allow students to be successful
  • Allocation of time will be determined according to student behavior needs
  • Attend training as required
  • Acquire and maintain required grant documentation
  • Lead the Student Achievement Team process and provide guidance with family action plans
  • Support a safe, welcoming environment for all students, staff and families
  • Participate in professional development activities both in-district as well as outside
  • Attend staff meetings, grade level meetings and PLC meetings to analyze student achievement data and support staff
  • Actively and regularly share intervention materials, ideas and research with colleagues via email and presentations during staff meetings and PLC meetings, and during teacher consultations
  • Onsite presence is required
  • Performs other such duties as directed by building principal
