Oregon City High School is a comprehensive high school with approximately 2,000 students, located in the suburban Portland/Metro area. We are looking for high-energy and creative educators that will continue our collective focus on engaging all learners at high levels, while building students' foundations for the 21st century. We are an AVID Certified school and are also working with the Center for High School Success with a focus on ninth grade success. Position Description:

Provide counseling, guidance, and support to assigned student caseload. Develop student schedules and four-year plans that meet graduation requirements and each student's post high school plans. Meet with and support students with academic, social, and mental health needs. Implement State School Counseling Standards within Oregon's Comprehensive School Counseling Framework for counseling and instruction. Is responsible, within the building, for the management of 504 plans as provided for under Public Law 94-l42. Collaborate with department, building, district, and community stakeholders Communicate effectively with students, staff members and parents.

Candidate Skills and Qualifications:
  • Valid Oregon school counseling license.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and implementing intervention strategies, including: PBIS, MTSS, and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Knowledge of Oregon diploma requirements, college entrance requirements, and scholarships.
  • Knowledge of ASCA National School Counseling Model and implementation of school counseling standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of the social and emotional needs of high school students.
  • Knowledge of college, career, and post high school options and pathways for high school students.
  • Interest in becoming involved in the whole OCHS community
  • Commitment to equitable and inclusive practices for all students. A dedication to your own professional growth and that of the staff and community in congruence with the district equity policy.
