How this role contributes to the Y’s mission: As a Y on the Fly Sports Counselor you’ll be an important part of a mission-driven, charitable organization that helps children, adults, families, and communities achieve more in all aspects of life. You will delivers physical activity and nutrition-based programs to school-aged children at multiple sites. You will maintain and organize all equipment and program resources. You will support planning, set up, clean up, and implementation to ensure a high-level of quality programming and participant experience. As a Y on the Fly Sports Counselor you’ll contribute to the Y and to the broader community we serve by creating experiences that help people feel a greater sense of health and well-being, purpose, acceptance and belonging. This work is right for you if you have:
- A love of sports and people • A desire to help & encourage others to have fun with sports • Prior experience in teaching and the supervision of sports and nutritional health activities
- Prior experience working with school-age children
- The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
