About Job

We are seeking a psychologist to join our growing psychology team. This position will include opportunities to expand the services provided by our established Inpatient Consultation/Liaison team. Our Inpatient C/L service provides psychological consult and brief intervention for youth admitted to our medical floors for medical concerns (pain, adjustment following serious illness/injury, adherence to medical recommendations, etc). The psychologist hired for this position will also spend a portion of their time on the cardiology team. In this role, the psychologists will join an interdisciplinary team who collaborate to care for youth with a variety of cardiac conditions (POTS, Single ventricle Defects, etc). Strong interdisciplinary skills and experience providing care in a pediatric medical setting will be important for the psychologists in this role

This position offers excellent opportunities to participate in training and research, based on candidate’s interest. Faculty at Akron Children’s Hospital are active in the training of psychology and neuropsychology fellows, psychology practicum students, as well as medical residents and fellows. Research opportunities are abundant for faculty with interest.

Requirements: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in child clinical psychology/pediatric psychology/counseling including completion of an internship in an APA/CPA-accredited child psychology/pediatric psychology program, eligibility for licensure in Ohio, and completion of a formal fellowship/postdoctoral program are required. Experience with medical populations is preferred. Board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology must be obtained within 5 years of hire.
