Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our Mental Health Department. This role is crucial in providing comprehensive mental health services, integrating clinical expertise with compassionate care to enhance the well-being of individuals and the community. Responsibilities include conducting psychosocial evaluations, developing personalized treatment plans, and providing therapy sessions. The counselor will also supervise and coach parents to foster supportive home environments and collaborate with schools and agencies for a cohesive approach to mental health support.

Mental Health Counselor (MHC) Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, family, couples, and group therapy

  • Diagnose disorders and determine appropriate treatment

  • Develop and implement measurable treatment plans

  • Conduct parent and teacher trainings

  • Consult with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders

  • Deliver crisis response and intervention services

  • Manage caseload assignments effectively

  • Seek guidance from supervisors as needed

  • Comply with HIPAA and other privacy laws

  • Maintain patient confidentiality

  • Maintain certification and licensure requirements

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Mental Health Counselor (MHC) Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Human Services (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology)

  • Licensed in Maryland at the Graduate-Level in Social Work (LMSW) or Counseling (LGPC); Independent licensure (LCSW-C, LCPC) preferred

  • Experience with behavioral and educational interventions for children, adolescents, and adults

  • Strong understanding of developmental disabilities and learning differences

Mental Health Counselor (MHC) Travel and Physical Requirements:

  • Travel to client locations may be required

  • May involve standing, sitting, and floor activities

  • Must be able to assist clients physically, which may require lifting up to 50 lbs
