JOB TITLE: Chair - Department of Management and Marketing Studies

DEPARTMENT: School of Business and Technology

REPORTS TO: Dean – School of Business and Technology

UNIVERSITY MISSION: Rochester Christian University prepares students for professional and personal success as they serve in Gods world.

POSITION SUMMARY: Supports the Dean of the School of Business and Technology by providing internal oversight of the Department of Management and Marketing Studies. This includes strategic, curriculum, and budget planning; engaging faculty in program review; and managing personnel, including the hiring, training, and oversight of adjuncts. Teaches 18 credits per academic year and advises approximately 20 students..

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Record of successful higher education teaching and administrative experience
  • Earned Ph.D. or D.B.A. (preferred) in a management or marketing-related discipline from a regionally accredited institution

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent the department to external stakeholders, including local businesses, governments, and nonprofits, and actively seek external partnerships for the School
  • Manage classes and curriculum, which includes: preparing and presenting program changes to the Curriculum Committee, assessing program effectiveness, preparing reports for accreditation agencies, adjusting class offerings to match demand, and ensuring efficient scheduling of classes
  • Engage faculty in strategic planning, program review, and quality improvement initiatives for majors offered by the department
  • Manage department budget and personnel, including faculty evaluations and workload, as well as hiring, training, and oversight of adjuncts
  • Hold regular department and advisory board meetings
  • Teach 18 credits per academic year
  • Participate in scholarship and service, and maintain a strong presence on campus as outlined in the faculty handbook
  • Evaluate transfer courses within 48 hours or less
  • Research and pursue grants and outside funding to support the department
  • Provide academic advising to students, as assigned by the dean or advising services.
  • Promote an inclusive Rochester through demonstration of our Diversity Statement. Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion both individually and as related to my field of work, profession or discipline.

  • Deep understanding of how students learn, leveraging innovative curriculum and support strategies to drive student success and employability
  • Insight into industry trends, job market opportunities, and the evolving education landscape
  • Leadership style that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the department in external partnerships and presentations
  • Supportive of the University mission. Indicators of this support include a demonstrated personal faith in Jesus Christ and being active in a local church.
