Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development. This position involves working closely with students, parents, and staff to create a positive learning environment and address various challenges that students may face. The School Counselor will provide individual and group counseling, facilitate conflict resolution, and collaborate with special education teams to ensure that all students receive the support they need.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students addressing academic, social, and emotional issues.
- Educate students about personal development, conflict management, and decision-making skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administration to develop strategies for student success.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Work closely with special education staff to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Maintain confidentiality while documenting student progress and interventions.
- Advocate for child welfare by connecting families with community resources such as childcare services or child protective services when necessary.
- Facilitate workshops and programs that promote mental health awareness and resilience among students.
Experience
- Proven experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
- Background in social work or related fields is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with child welfare policies and practices is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Experience in conflict management techniques to help resolve student disputes.
- Knowledge of special education processes and resources is an asset.
- Ability to provide compassionate care in a childcare or similar environment is a plus.
