If you have school-age childcare programming experience and enjoy teaching young minds, Associated Recreation Council (ARC) has a role for you as aSchool-age Childcare Lead Counselor in Seattle at Van Asselt Community Center.This is a year-round, part-time position starting September 2024.
ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed childcare and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. In this role, School-age Childcare Lead Counselorwill share their talents with the community andteach children ages 5-12 years old during the after-school program.
Our programs provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.

Starting Pay:$23.00/hr (Non-exempt) (Depending on experience)
Full Salary Range: $23.00-26.45 (Over time, the employee in this role may earn up to $26.45/hr with additional years of service.)

Schedule:
- Part-time, non-exempt, up to 23hr/week position during the school-year; may work summers as well
- Monday - Friday; hours between 2:30pm - 6:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 1:00pm - 6:00pm on Wednesdays
School-age Childcare Lead Counselor Responsibilities:
- Leads daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 5-12years old
- Models appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth
- Ensures a ratio of 1:10(staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and accounted for
- Mentors and leads School-age Childcare Counselors andto the Associated Recreation Council School-age Director
School-age Childcare Lead Counselor Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have High School Diploma, GED, college transcripts or other secondary education
- Must have 1-2 years of experience working with youth in a recreation setting or childcare setting
- Experience with working with 5-12 year olds in a group setting (1:10 ratio)
- Experience developing and leading programs and activities such as: arts and crafts, organized games, cultural activities, drama, music, story hour, sports, and other special projects and events

Starting Pay:$23.00/hr (Non-exempt) (Depending on experience)
Full Salary Range: $23.00-26.45 (Over time, the employee in this role may earn up to $26.45/hr with additional years of service.)
