Job Summary
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Current Alabama Teacher's Certification, Bachelor's Degree or higher in agency counseling or a related field
•Experience in counseling and assessment of behavior
•At least three (3) successful years of teaching or service in a related counseling field
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
•Assist with the assessment of behavior needs of identified students
•Identify the appropriate conflict and problem-solving skills
•Design and follow-up with student behavior contracts
•Conference with parents related to behavioral and academic concerns
•Provide technical assistance to teachers on behavioral alternatives and interventions, including conducting workshops
•Evaluate program effectiveness
•Utilize therapeutic counseling strategies with individuals and families
•Provide direct counseling to individual students and their families
•Monitor specialized alternative program components focused on critical behavior issues
•Develop functional behavior assessments
•Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors
•Work district-wide in assigned school(s) - must provide own transportation
