Nevada County is pleased to announce a recruitment for the position of Social Services Supervisor for the In Home Supportive Services team! The mission of Adult Services under the Department of Social Services (DSS) is opening doors, building community, and being of service to County citizens needing social, eligibility, or employment training services. Adult Services of Nevada County provides a wide array of services and support to elders and dependent adults in our community with the goal of helping individuals remain safely in their own homes. This is accomplished through investigations, assessments and referrals to appropriate agencies and programs. The IHSS Program provides assistance to eligible aged, blind and disabled individuals who are unable to remain safely in their own homes without this assistance. It is an alternative to out of home care, such as skilled nursing or board and care.

We are looking for a candidate who has, at a minimum 5 years of IHSS program knowledge, and is a strong and empowering leader to oversee a team of dedicated professionals with an enthusiasm for positively influencing the lives of people living with a disability and senior community.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of the IHSS team of employees.
  • Writes the IHSS team employee evaluations.
  • Reviews and distributes to the IHSS team IHSS regulatory changes and creates any needed policies and procedures.
  • Confers with workers regarding discrepancies in their work and the electronic case management system.
  • Determines the need for training and oversight and provides appropriate training and direction.
  • Works collaboratively with the Adult Services management team to maintain our Adult Services team culture.

Retirement
The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and also provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
