Department Information

The Department of Psychology and Criminal Justice includes programs that are designed to produce scientifically analytic, critical thinkers prepared to succeed in meeting the challenges of modern life. We emphasize career preparation in the behavioral sciences through lifelong learning. The Department offers an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and a Doctorate in Public Safety.

Job Summary

This position is for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology (open area of specialization). The area of specialization is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates with specializations in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Biopsychology (broadly defined), Cognitive Psychology, Personality Psychology, or Applied Behavior Analysis. In addition to other courses to be taught, candidates should have the background and expertise to teach courses in 1 or more of the following: Biopsychology, Abnormal Psychology, Cross-cultural Psychology, Behavioral Genetics, Statistics for Psychology, Research Methods, Evolutionary Psychology, Human Factors Psychology, or User Experience Design/the Psychology of UX. Successful applicants will teach courses within the B.S. program in Psychology. The standard teaching load at MGA is a 4/4 course load. The position also involves expectations for student mentoring, supervising student research, university service, and scholarship. Travel among our campuses is expected. This is a ten (10)-month faculty position, with the option to teach Summer courses. Regular on campus presence is also required for the position. Teaching responsibilities will include face to face and online courses.

Responsibilities

Teach a workload of a variety of four courses per Fall and Spring semester, in courses for the B.S. program in Psychology.
Serve on committees for the university, school, and department.
Scholarship and research activities.
Mentor undergraduate students.
Actively pursue continuous improvement in teaching.
Actively engage in activities aimed at improving student success.
Be present on campus regularly/weekly.

Required Qualifications

Required Educational Qualifications

Doctorate in Psychology or Neuroscience (or closely related field) from a regionally accredited university (or international equivalent). Field/Area of specialization is open, but candidates will be evaluated on their fit with particular course teaching needs.

Required Experience

Experience in a university setting.
Experience that warrants a tenure-track appointment.
Experience teaching related courses at the college-level.
