GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides a comprehensive guidance and counseling program for students and meets the special needs of his/her assigned caseload. Counselors consult with teachers, staff and parents to enhance their effectiveness in supporting the educational pursuits of all students in regard to career, personal and social development. Provides support to other high school educational programs.

D. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: Must use sound judgment in performing
job responsibilities

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Site Principal

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Promotes the guidance curriculum;
- Guides groups and individual students through the development of educational and career plans;
- Counsels individual students with problems;
- Consults with teachers, staff and parents in regard to meeting the developmental needs of adolescents;
- As necessary refers students with problems, or their families, to specialists or special program personnel;
- Participates in, coordinates or conducts activities that contribute to the effective operation of the school;
- Pursues continual professional growth;
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS A. REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- A valid Arizona Guidance Counselor certificate;
- A Master's degree or higher;
- At least three years of successful teaching experience;
- Strong computer skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff
