Anticipated Starting Salary and Benefits
The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $53,000 - $65,000, depending on experience and skill level. Requirements
- Educational Level: MA
- Certification/License Required: CDE Special Services License with endorsement in School Counselor or School Social Work
- Experience: Prior counseling experience is not required but prefered
- Physical Activities: Communicate with students/adults, move throughout the building, working independently, integrating information and making decisions in stressful situations, ability to physically transport student if necessary
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Understanding of the unique and diverse challenges of students (both in their personal and individual lives, as well as within a developmentally appropriate framework) that impact the academic achievement and social emotional wellbeing of elementary and middle school students is essential. Must have strong communication skills and interpersonal skills - building relationships with students/parents/staff members is an essential element of this position. Must be able to pass the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training that includes physically transporting students
- Designs and implements a school guidance and anti bullying curriculum for classrooms and small groups of students
- Provides responsive services and systems support for individuals and groups of students, including Crisis Prevention Intervention CPI, Handle with Care, and any other crisis events
- Works in collaboration with the admin team, school psychologist, teachers, and other Tier 2 and Tier 3 Intervention team members to design and implement intervention and support for individual or small groups of students
- Works as a team member with school staff, parents and the community to create a caring, supportive climate and atmosphere whereby students can achieve academic success
- Provides classroom instruction for our character program in grades K-3 through "Character Strong" curriculum, instruction and support in executive function through the "Unstuck and On Target" program in grades 4-6, and provides varied activities for character and executive functioning in grades 7 and 8
- Supports middle school Social Studies teachers with the implementation of ICAP
- Supports school-wide character education events and service learning opportunities.
- In collaboration with teachers, monitor and evaluate student needs through the RTI process.
