Job Description:
The Special Needs Inclusion Program Counselor is a dedicated, understanding, and patient person who supports their special needs camper during the summer and works collaboratively with the Special Needs Inclusion Program Coordinator. Camp Kef at the Kaiserman JCC is an award winning, premier Jewish Day Camp committed to providing an excellent, well-rounded summer camp experience where all children have the opportunity to gain knowledge, skill, self-esteem, Jewish pride, lasting friendships and unforgettable memories, in a safe, nurturing and fun environment. We serve campers from infants through 10th grade. At Camp Kef, we focus on universal Jewish values (kindness, community, good spirit, and respect).
Minimum Qualifications:
Responsibilities:
  • Seasonal full schedule, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
  • Reports to SNIP Coordinator
  • Attends Camp Open House to be introduced to assigned camper(s) prior to the start of the camp season.
  • Attends all staff orientations pertinent to position
  • Serves as one-on-one support for a camper with disabilities. Advocates may be assigned to multiple campers.
  • Adheres to camper needs according to camper IEP and Intake Form information, such as activity modifications, toileting needs, behavior modification and sensory needs.
  • Participates in all activities including swimming with their assigned camper(s) during aquatic activities.
  • Communicates with camper's family through daily communication log.
  • Addresses any concerns with SNIP Coordinator
  • Participates in late stay corresponding to their position.
  • Supervises camper(s) at all times. Campers are staff's first responsibility; failure to provide appropriate supervision will result in termination.
  • Creates a safe, secure and accident free environment for all campers and other staff members.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner around the campers at all times.
  • Upholds and exemplifies camp values at all times
  • Remains aware of all fire and safety emergency procedures and reports any security risks or safety concerns immediately to a supervisor.
  • Creates an inclusive camp experience for assigned camper(s) and works in partnership with counselors to create an inclusive experience for all campers.
  • Maintains a positive team culture and provides excellent customer service.
  • Assists with other camp-related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 18 years old
  • Experience with special needs children preferred
  • Must be able to obtain background clearances, FBI fingerprinting, and child abuse clearances.
$5760 for full summer commitment of 8 weeks. (Prorated to shorter commitments)
