Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has helped more than 75,000 young adults in San Francisco with outreach, shelter, housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other services.


Today, Larkin Street Youth Services is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area. We serve 1,500 youth annually, operating or partnering to provide more than 500 emergency shelter, transitional, supportive, and subsidy-based housing beds at several sites across San Francisco.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, you will guide and counsel clients in our housing programs to help them meet their goals. You may work with clients one-on-one or in groups.


This is a full-time position with full benefits.


Your responsibilities:

  • Inspire and support clients to reach their goals.
  • Oversee safety and joy in community spaces.
  • Help clients understand and overcome social and emotional challenges.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze information about individuals.
  • Share occupational, educational, and economic info to help clients achieve objectives.
  • Evaluate counseling techniques through research and follow-up.
  • Teach domestic and practical skills or hold group meetings.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure continuous services.
  • Maintain community resources like food, laundry, etc.

WORKING LOCATION:

  • Various housing programs across San Francisco, including Tenderloin and East Bay (Berkeley).
  • All programs serve Transitional Aged Youth (TAY), ages 18-24, except one licensed facility for clients under 18.

WORKING DAYS:

  • Tuesday through Saturday
  • Sunday through Thursday

SHIFT OPTIONS:

  • DAY: 8AM to 4PM
  • SWING: 4PM to 12AM
  • OVERNIGHT: 12AM to 8AM (+$1/hour)

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Passionate about ending youth homelessness.
  • Aligned with our values: Client-Centered, Trauma-Informed Care, Restorative Practices, Harm Reduction, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Motivational Interviewing.
  • Experience working with TAY (18-25) from diverse backgrounds.
  • Bonus: Experience in shelter or housing programs.
  • Aware of symptoms of substance use, recovery, and treatment philosophies.
  • Self-starter, reliable, personable, team player.
  • Prefer in-person work; remote work not available.
  • Willing to work holidays occasionally.
  • Vaccinated against COVID-19.
