Duties: The Psychological Counseling Center at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz is accepting applications for a 10-month counselor position. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to working with marginalized and under-served populations. Individuals of BIPOC identity and/or multilingual abilities encouraged to apply. The start date is August 14, 2025.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:• Provide culturally competent clinical services related to: short-term individual and group psychotherapy, intake/assessments, triage appointments, case management and referral, outreach services, consultation, and participation in a multidisciplinary approach to the clinical care of New Paltz students• Participate in a rotating after-hours phone crisis intervention rotation• Serve as a professional resource providing treatment specific services especially in the area of trauma specific interventions or disordered eating• Clinical training and supervision of MSW and MHC interns
Qualifications: Required:• LCSW, LMHC, PsyD, DSW or PhD• NYS licensure/eligibility• Clinical experience working with culturally diverse college age/emerging adults• Experience providing risk assessment and crisis response• Ability to provide brief and focused counseling
