QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A valid Missouri teaching certificate.
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience.
  • Master's degree with a major emphasis in guidance and counseling.
REPORTS TO: Building Principals
JOB GOAL:
To counsel individuals and provide group educational and vocational guidance services by perforrning the following duties.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITIES :
  • Provide support services for students in the areas of academic programs, team teaching, registration, course planning, school rules and other matters.
  • Assesses and counsels students based on observations, conversations and test results.
  • Provides personal counseling for students, families and groups to help them learn greater self-understanding, acceptance of responsibility and better decision-making skills.
4. Provides group counseling for interaction, communication and support skill development.
  • Interprets post-high school opportunities and available information regarding career, college, military and life style decisions.
  • Administers tests and diagnoses results in areas such as organization, memory skills, aptitude and preferences.
  • Consults with teachers, staff and parents regarding meeting the developmental needs of students.
  • Responds to crisis situations when appropriate.
  • Performs diagnostic activities as needed to identifr possible student learning impairments and develop appropriate programs where necessary.
  • Serve as a consultant to the district's professional staff on matters pertaining to the education of children with learring impairments.
  • Perform such other duties as may be delegated by the superintendent or his/her designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten, eleven, or twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy of Evaluation of professional Personnel.
