Job Title: Alcohol/Counselor Drug

Job Summary:

Substance Abuse Counselors must be able to establish open and collaborative relationships with patients. Counselors are expected to be proficient in the 12 Core Functions of an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor and actively participate in the program's Continuous Quality Improvement efforts. The primary responsibility involves providing alcohol and drug rehabilitation by engaging clients in individual counseling sessions

Functions and Responsibilities:

- Carry a client caseload as assigned. Assess each client’s strengths, weaknesses, and needs to assist in developing a treatment plan within 7 days of admission

- Monitor and document each assigned client's progress towards their treatment plan every 90 days, using the treatment plan review, and present it to the Clinical Supervisor for review and signature.

- Provide alcohol and drug education during counseling sessions

- Exhibit effective time management skills

- Manage discharges and transfers of clients under regulations

- Keep client records up to date, including transition planning

- Ensure assigned clients receive random urinalysis according to state and federal guidelines

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor

- Provide crisis intervention when necessary, in compliance with applicable laws and under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor

- Maintain client confidentiality as required by federal guidelines

-Conduct intake assessments with the required documentation

- Attend weekly supervision meetings and any additional required supervision

- Maintain monthly case notes regarding treatment, urinalysis, and interventions utilized

- Uphold confidentiality regulations and clients' rights

- Ensure that your license for the position is current

Competencies:

-Counselors should either possess or be willing to gain knowledge and skills in the following areas:

- Building a strong therapeutic alliance with clients.

- Practicing an ethical code of conduct, including professionalism.

- Maintaining professional boundaries with coworkers and clients.

- Engaging in skill-building to improve counseling techniques.

- Understanding counseling theories and the ASAM criteria.

- Learning effective time management skills.

- Recognizing the pros and cons of self-disclosure.

- Being punctual and valuing teamwork.

Qualifications:

- A minimum of 16 credits in Addiction Counseling. Certification, licensure, or trainee status as designated by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors.

- Computer literacy is required.

- Ability to perform the functions listed in the nature and scope of this position.

Hiring Bonus:

- $1,000.00 after a 90-day satisfactory evaluation

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
