About Job

Overview

Helio Health is seeking experienced Licensed Mental Health / SUD Counselors to work Per Diem for our Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center (ICSC) in Syracuse, NY. The Licensed Counselor/Therapist will provide urgent response and/or treatment services to patients experiencing an acute mental health and/or substance use crisis. 

 

Pay Rate: $28.00/hr. to $34.00/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a case load of individuals seeking treatment with a variety of behavioral healthcare needs.
  • Perform essential counseling/therapist responsibilities including screening, intake and assessment, evaluation and intervention, treatment planning, discharge planning, referrals, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation.
  • Exhibit exemplary knowledge of the biopsychosocial process of substance use, addiction, behavioral health, self-help group processes, and principles of counseling.
  • Provide evidenced-based counseling. 
  • Be a change agent for the community by providing person-centered, strengths-based, harm reduction services.
  • Maintain case records in accordance with state and federal regulations. 
  • Assist with the training of staff and student interns as assigned.   
  • Relate effectively with individuals served, Helio staff and the community while upholding appropriate standards of confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Health Professional (CASAC, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAT or equivalent licensure or permit eligible) 
  • One year experience working as a licensed mental health and/or substance use counselor.
  • Two years’ experience in the Human Services field working with individuals with mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorders preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred, Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid New York State Driver License, access to reliable transportation
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications.
