Annual Salary: $50k-$70k (varies depending on years of experience)

Under the direction of clinic leadership, this full-time Substance Abuse Counselor provides comprehensive substance use and co-occurring mental health services for adults in an outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will be skilled in using evidence-based practices to support clients through recovery, relapse prevention, and long-term stability.

Counselors are expected to provide services across individual, group, and family counseling modalities, with an emphasis on engagement, education, and client empowerment. Responsibilities include initial assessments and intake evaluations, development and implementation of treatment plans, crisis intervention and risk assessment, and active coordination with clinic psychiatrists and external service providers. Regular and timely documentation of services is required in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct substance use assessments and intake evaluations
• Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based approaches
• Deliver relapse prevention and harm reduction education
• Participate in crisis intervention and safety planning as needed
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, primary care providers, and social service agencies
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
• Actively participate in clinical team meetings and case conferences
• Support outreach and engagement efforts to improve client participation and retention

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field strongly preferred
• One of the following licenses required: CASAC, CASAC-T, LMHC, MHC-LP, or LMSW.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
