Responsibilities


Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of UHS, is a 182-bed treatment facility, conveniently located in beautiful Oakland Park, FL that specializes in the successful treatment of substance abuse and mental health issues for youth, adults and seniors. Our progressive team members in the fields of psychiatry, medicine, nursing, social services, education and activity therapy are all committed to provide compassionate, comprehensive care that uniquely fits the intensity and severity of each patient’s needs. We offer a continuum of mental health and addiction services through an integrated system of inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and ECT programs. Our overall goal is to provide the highest quality treatment possible for drug abuse and mental health issues in order to help our patients achieve good health and long-term sobriety. Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

RECREATION THERAPIST/CTRS

Qualifications


Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Therapeutic Recreation, Activity Therapy creative/expressive arts, social work, or another appropriate discipline preferred.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required or equivalent


Experience:

  • Two (2) years related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques, an understanding of mental illness, chemical dependency, and co-occurring disorders.


Licensure/Certification:

  • Certified Therapeutic Specialist (CTRS)
  • Current Florida Driver’s License (may be required to drive company van on occasion)
  • Current CPR
