Position Summary:
To coordinate all aspects of scheduling and registration for surgical procedures and to assist the Administrator and Business Office Manager in the daily operation of the facility activities in accordance with Federal, State and surgery center policies and procedures. Assists with scheduling/reception activities and promotes communication throughout the facility. Performs clerical and reception duties and other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements:
- Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility: Ability to type 40 wpm, use standard office equipment and be computer literate. Knowledge of medical terminology. Minimum one (1) year experience in computerized appointment scheduling. Two years medical clerical experience preferred. Good communication and language skills required. Current BLS preferred.

- Knowledge: Working knowledge of health care environment and patient processing with computerized scheduling software. Knowledge of outpatient surgery forms, policies and procedures and health insurance.
- Machine, Equipment, Work Aides: Computer, printer, copier, telephone and fax.
Work Environment: Subject to busy office requiring above average ability to prioritize and organize. Some overtime may be required.

Essential Competencies / Performance Expectations
Clerical skills
- Plans duties and assignments in order of priority.
- Records accurate telephone messages.
- Types correspondence accurately and timely.
- Assumes responsibility for patient admission to the facility
- Verifies patient’s insurance benefits in conjunction with Scheduling Coordinator.
- Pre-admits patients by telephone assures financial responsibilities are discussed and arrangements made with patients prior to the day of surgery.
- Generates all necessary admissions forms for the next day’s cases.
- Accepts payments from cash, check and credit card purchases.
- Distributes documents correctly and in a timely manner.
- Prepares and pulls charts for the following surgical day.
- Participates in credentialing process as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
- Demonstrates awareness of protocol for malfunctioning equipment and repair.
Communication

- Effectively communicates and interacts with patients (using translation services when needed), their family, and other external and internal clients (including fellow employees) from diverse backgrounds.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.50 per hour
