About Job

BINA Farm Center has an inclusive mission of bringing people together of all ages, those both with and without disabilities, through clinical, therapeutic, and recreational programs that provide equine-assisted services, gardening, and vocational opportunities. Position begins in our Lexington MA location and will transition to Sudbury MA later in the summer when we move to our new location.

We are seeking part time mental health professional and therapists to provide services to patients who are seeking mental health services using Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy. Basic Horse experience is preferred, otherwise the mental health professional can either go and become PATH ESHML Certified as a horse handler and we will provide professional development reimbursement and or you can go through our internal certification process on a volunteer basis with our licensed clinician. Once hired, your hourly compensation will be commensurate with level of qualifications, licenses, degrees, certifications and experience.

Overview

The Mental Health Professional providing Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) is responsible for conducting therapy sessions incorporating equines to support clients in addressing emotional and behavioral challenges. This role involves developing individualized treatment plans, guiding clients through equine-assisted activities, and maintaining professional standards in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP):

· Conduct EFP sessions, guiding clients through equine-based activities such as grooming, leading, and interaction

· Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on client needs and therapeutic goals

· Utilize equine interactions to foster communication, self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation

· Assess new clients to determine suitability for EFP and establish baseline treatment objectives

· Maintain a positive and safe therapeutic environment for both clients and horses

Documentation and Compliance:

· Maintain accurate and timely progress notes and treatment documentation

· Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and best practices in mental health and equine-assisted therapy

Collaboration and Professional Development:

· Work within a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with staff, volunteers, and equine professionals

· Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities

· Maintain strong knowledge of equine behavior and handling, ensuring the safety of all participants

Requirements

· Licensed Mental Health Professional

· Specialized training in equine-assisted psychotherapy or willingness to obtain certification (ESMHL PATH Intl. preferred)- or partake in our internal certification process on a volunteer basis with our clinician

· 4-6 years of relevant clinical experience

· Strong knowledge of horse behavior, handling, and care

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate potential clients, develop and carry out treatment plan using variety of tools.
  • Complete documentation in timely manner in accordance with facility and professional guidelines.
  • Educate patients and families as needed on treatment plan and tools

Qualifications Required:
· Licensed (and in good standing) in Massachusetts and graduate of an accredited Therapy program
· A minimum of 2-years clinical experience
· ESMHL PATH Intl. Certification, or will begin- Those with this receive a higher pay rate, otherwise someone with a ESMHL certification must be present during the session to oversee the equine safety standards.
