About Job

SUMMARY

Responsible for the planning and delivery of addictions counseling, education and support to inmates of a correctional facility and promotes healthy lifestyles and choices. Responsible for the planning and delivery of social rehabilitative programs as a required element of inmate treatment. Participate with the treatment team in the development and delivery of individualized, comprehensive plans of care. Participate and coordinate discharge planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Provides individual and group drug and alcohol counseling to inmates
  • Provides education and support on the subject of addiction
  • Develops and distributes literature on addiction, healthy lifestyles, and healthy choices
  • Assists individuals to identify their need for treatment programs
  • Work with other health professionals to create an individual treatment plan
  • Assists inmates to meet requirements of the programs
  • Be aware of the signs of recidivism
  • Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans for assigned inmates, consistent with current policies and procedures
  • Assist inmates in preparing for release
  • Consult with Probation, the Police Department, the Prosecutor’s Office, and other agencies to coordinate rehabilitation efforts
  • Assist with telepsychiatry as requested by supervisors
  • Teach individual skills and techniques needed to capably participate in life activities and evaluate individual progress
  • Aid inmates in developing a better sense of duty and responsibility toward society
  • Review inmates’ educational backgrounds and discuss plans for continuing education
  • Interview inmates to ascertain specific needs and provide appropriate counsel
  • Documents on patient interaction in EHR
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA
  • Provides treatment referrals as required
  • Manages and administers the facility’s drug and alcohol program
  • All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Must possess certification and/or license in drug/addiction counseling.
  • Minimum 3 years experience
