JOB DESCRIPTION:
The High School CTE & Dual Enrollment Counselor is responsible for supporting students in achieving academic, career, and personal success, with a focus on Early College and Career Technical Education (CTE) opportunities. Collaborating closely with high school administrators, counselors, staff, and community partners, the CTE & Dual Enrollment counselor facilitates students' transition into postsecondary education and career pathways.
Essential Responsibilities:
Student Counseling and Support:
- Assist students in setting academic, career, and personal goals.
- Provide comprehensive educational planning for certificate, pathway and degree completion, and transfer to four-year institutions.
- Offer personal, crisis, and social counseling services, including individual and group sessions. Dual Enrollment and CTE
Program Support:
- Liaise with CTE and dual enrollment educators to enhance enrollment and retention of underrepresented student populations.
- Conduct training sessions on recruitment, retention, and intervention strategies.
- Monitor student progress and provide recommendations for interventions.
- Collect, analyze, and report data on recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
- Work-based data entry on student information system
- Research and coordinate extended learning activities in CTE and dual enrollment.
- Research and coordinate work-based learning activities Community Engagement and Partnership Building:
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, businesses, community colleges, and high schools.
- Conduct outreach to promote understanding of the benefits of CTE and dual enrollment programs among students and parents.
- Participate in meetings, pursue professional growth, and serve on committees.
Curriculum Development and Alignment:
- Ensure alignment with California CTE Model Curriculum Standards.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of CTE and dual enrollment programs.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in counseling and PPS Credential
- Bilingual Spanish
- Knowledge of Career and Technical Education programs and dual enrollment opportunities.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in counseling or advising students from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to analyze data and utilize it for program improvement.
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
