Midwest Behavioral Health Services is the newest in an accomplished list of services the family-owned Midwest Family of Companies offers to people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. As a Mental Health Counselor for this program your input will be invaluable and necessary to its success.
Scope and Job Purpose
The Mental Health Counselor provides individual therapy, treatment planning, case management, assessment, and client advocacy, as well as working in collaboration with other staff and agencies to support your clients.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Provide screening, including intakes, evaluations, assessments, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Provides ongoing client assessment to identify changing needs pertaining to the individual and family treatment and development strategy.
  • Work respectfully with culturally diverse populations.
  • Collaborates with Program staff to determine continuum of care for program participants.
  • Participates in clinical supervision meetings.
  • Participates in the day-to-day provision of client-focused, trauma-informed mental health services to agency clients.
Required:
LSW, LISA, LPC, LPCC, MFT, or IMFT. Enrolled as a provider with a National Provider Identifier (NPI). Enrolled as a provider with the Ohio Department of Medicaid. Ability and willingness to travel to the group homes/workshops with your assigned county/counties. Communicate accurately and effectively, both verbal and written. Demonstrate effective decision-making skills and use good judgment. Knowledge of mental health services in the community. Able to work effectively and collaboratively as a team, interacting with clients, external care providers, consulting psychiatrist, other clinicians, and administrative and support staff. Able to exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions, and to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner. Proficient computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and electronic health record documentation.
