Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Counseling Psychology performs coordination of site operations including marketing and outreach. This position assists in overseeing professional standards and curriculum offering for the cohorts that will begin in Fall 2023.

  • Provides advisement to students in the program.
  • Provides support to the cohorts that enter the program.
  • Provides curriculum offerings for the Shady Grove Campus.
  • Maintains appropriate community relationships, provides marketing materials and open houses to recruit students for the cohorts.
  • Meets with the Coordinator for Counseling Psychology, Director of Counseling, Department Chair and the Dean on the main campus as necessary to keep them apprised of the Shady Grove guidelines and program needs.
  • Stays abreast of emerging issues in Counseling.
  • Participates in the planning and usage of the Shady Grove Budget for needs such as program marketing and/or other instructional needs of the program.
  • Requests, allocates and manages resources required to accomplish department goals and objectives.
  • Attends orientation and faculty meetings as necessary.
  • Addresses all student issues in a professional and timely manner and in accordance with institutional policies and procedures and makes referrals as necessary.
  • Provides service and excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education

A Doctorate Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology or related field required.



Experience

A minimum of four (4) years of Full-time or Adjunct teaching experience in higher education and experience working as a Counselor in the State of Maryland.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and be flexible and supportive.
