Brite Horizons opened in 2019 as part of the ABRITE Organization. We are seeking Full-Time and Part-Time School Aides/Behavior Interventionists (BI's) for our small non-public school in Scotts Valley.

The school is staffed by a committed team providing an individualized and comprehensive educational placement for students with a variety of specialized needs.

Details of the position:
Our Behavior Interventionists work 1:1 with a student and provide behavioral support to help the student learn from a group setting and have an increasingly successful day as a result of the individualized and group based teaching.

The work schedule is typically Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 3:00pm (full time) or part time is available, M/W/F or T/R.

- Supports student(s) by implementing outlined individualized behavior intervention plans, reinforcement (“reward”) systems, use of strategies designed to promote student participation in academic instruction, and emergency-based intervention plans.

- Implements school-wide protocols and support systems

- Student behavior intervention plans address more severe and/or higher rate behaviors such as physical aggression, self-injurious behavior, property destruction, and/or elopement.

- Students have highly individualized academic curriculum and needs. Considerable communication with teacher for implementation.

- Emergency-based intervention may be needed. Additional will be required.

Training provided:

- Initial training is approximately 28 hours

- Ongoing Training:

  • In-vivo observation and written feedback (3-4/month)
  • Daily on-site support provided
  • Monthly group-format training (2hrs/month)

Requirements:

  • Must have experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Interested in working with children with behavioral needs.
  • Must be interested in learning about ABA
  • Career track in psychology, special education, child development or related field.
  • Must have a high school diploma with some college.
  • Must be able to lift and/or pull 50 pounds
  • Spanish speaking a plus!
  • Provide TB clearance and be First Aid Certified (or willing to complete).
  • Must be an energetic person who enjoys working with children.
