Job Description:

Part-Time Recruitment Counselor, Admissions & Enrollment

Non-benefited, MCCC unit position

Campus Location: Lynn, Danvers, Remote travel (this position will require some evening and weekend hours)

Work Schedule: 15-20 hours per week

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Assists potential students in determining the most appropriate academic plan of study based upon their academic, career and personal goals and objectives. This position works closely with the Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment as well as other key College stakeholders in order to enhance and develop the connections that the College has with community members, area high schools, local immigration centers, and families in order to open up educational opportunities for these populations. Responsibilities include providing prospective students and their families with information regarding admissions processes and policies, communicating the vision, mission, culture, and of NSCC, and following up with students regarding missing application materials and/or issues with their submitted application. Coordinates select programs and services to diverse student populations of potential students within a virtual environment through the use of Google Meet and Zoom.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates in electronic (e-mail), telecounseling, and social media campaigns to target and/or follow-up with prospects.
  • Consistently communicates with inquiries, applicants and newly registered students through the CRM.
  • Counsels, advises, and maintains positive contacts with prospective students with a specialization in working with diverse/multicultural students and adult learners.
  • Interact with and develop partnerships with community based organizations and church groups, businesses, state and local agencies to reach potential students for outreach and enhance college, K-12, and business relationships.
  • Work with families to assist them with education, government, workforce and other established needs as needs arise.
  • Create and maintain relationships with teachers, guidance and career counselors, parents and prospective students.
  • Participates in On the Spot Admission events at high schools, high school admission information presentations, both at the high school and via Zoom.
  • Adheres to a strong customer service orientation and works with Admissions/Outreach Office, Enrollment Centers, and Academic Divisions to increase access to the College and reach the College's enrollment goals.
  • Represents the College at fairs, alumni activities, open houses, campus tours, school visits and other recruitment events. Assists in the organization of these activities.
  • Maintains accurate data entry of all recruitment activities within NSCC student information system and the college's CRM, in order to provide accurate recruitment and admissions statistical reports.
  • Assists Enrollment Services as needed with application processing/entry/ document collection within Banner, Navigate, and CRM.
  • Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of NSCC policies, procedures, and programs, as well as labor market information, and applies that knowledge to individual situations to assist students, parents, faculty, staff, and all community constituencies.
  • Engages in cultural competency training opportunities, as identified by the manager.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Executive Director and Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years' experience in undergraduate admissions or related enrollment services area; or
  • an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Community College experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft products, particularly Excel and Access.
  • Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of student recruitment and admissions.
  • Strong presentation skills. Outstanding public relations and customer service skills.
  • Must have the ability to travel and work evenings and weekends for such events as Open Houses, College Fairs,
  • community engagements, graduations, etc.
  • Must have a valid driver's license. Local travel will be 80% of the time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively establish an interpersonal connection with culturally
  • diverse populations.
  • Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with school guidance counselors, teachers, parents, and community
  • agency representatives.
  • Must possess high energy, flexibility thriving in a high-energy environment, and have a results driven attitude and focus for
  • student success.
  • Must be positive, energetic, team-orientated, capable of moving self, and require limited supervision.
  • Ability and desire to work effectively within a fast-paced, rapidly growing, intense, and multifunctional office environment.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment
