Island Health is looking for an experienced Therapist for our Psychiatry and Behavioral department at our hospital in Anacortes, WA.

Work Schedule:
  • Part time, 32 hours per week

Salary Range: $77,968 - $116,952

Other Compensation:
  • Sign-On Bonus $10,000 for eligible new employees joining Island Health

Therapist Job Responsibilities:
  • Identifies and screens high-risk patients and their families.
  • Assesses patients and their families to identify and clarify psychosocial, developmental, environmental, and other factors that interfere with quality of wellbeing and intervene appropriately with effective treatment plans.
  • Provides intensive psychotherapy, crisis prevention intervention, support, case management, education and group work services to assist patients and their families to understand and cope with mental distress and mental illness, grief and loss.
  • Guides and assists patients and their families in the development and implementation of intervention and referral to other health care providers as needed.
  • Promotes effective and efficient use of personal and community resources and monitors outcomes.
  • Participates in community based activities as needed representing Island Hospital Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Clinic.
  • Documents assessment, reassessments, interventions and discharge plan in the patient's medical record and completes productivity statistics and departmental records according to standards.
  • Participates as a member of the health care team to improve patient care and promote professional excellence through involvement in quality improvement efforts, department projects, use of supervision, and attendance at in-service and educational events.
  • Provides in-service education as needed.
  • Works in close collaboration with members of health team to further their understanding of significant social and emotional factors underlying patient's health problem.
  • Participates in identifying quality improvement needs and projects.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with other agencies and organizations in community toward meeting patient needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Social Work
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an outpatient psych/behavioral health setting
  • Current WA State Independent Clinical Social Work License (LICSW)
  • Or, current WA State Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist License
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support Certification

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to inside environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The employee may be exposed to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes and communicable diseases as related to a health care environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, and have hearing sufficient to understand conversations, both in person and on the telephone. The employee is often required to sit for potentially long periods of time throughout the workday. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arm. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus sufficient to operate computer systems.
