Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join the practice! The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. This position involves working closely with patients to facilitate their recovery through various therapeutic techniques and interventions. The Mental Health Counselor will assist in creating a safe and supportive environment, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care. The practice offers virtual, in person or walk talk therapy sessions!
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including monitoring patient behavior and emotional well-being.
- Assist in the implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic activities, including group therapy sessions.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations and document patient progress accurately.
- Utilize behavioral therapy techniques and motivational interviewing to engage patients effectively.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling patient information.
- Support patients in outpatient settings, offering guidance during their recovery journey.
- Facilitate grief counseling sessions for patients dealing with loss or trauma.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for children and adolescents.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Experience or training in behavioral therapy, group therapy, or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge of diagnostic evaluation processes and familiarity with ICD-9 coding is a plus.
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a mental health setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of patient care principles and commitment to providing empathetic support.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by facility policies.
