Job Summary:
The Psychologist is responsible for conducting clinical evaluations and delivering treatment services in individual, family and group formats consistent with the scope of practice. This position will work with adults in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluates patients for symptoms of psychiatric disorders and behavioral problems, including mental status examination and psychiatric history
- Delivers goal-oriented therapy to individuals, families and groups
- Provides clinical support and backup to other clinical staff as needed
- Serves as primary therapist to assigned adults
- Actively participates in multidisciplinary team processes, including individualized treatment planning, case reviews and transitional planning
- Contributes to staff meetings, case conferences, case presentations, quality improvement initiatives and training activities
- Prepares patient records and required treatment records, and maintains required documentation of work activities in a timely fashion in accordance with policies and procedures
- Perform other duties (not outlined above) as assigned
Experience:

Education:
PhD in Psychology or PsyD
Licenses / Certifications:
Licensed in the State of New York as a Licensed Psychologist
Other:
- Knowledge of crisis intervention principles and practices, case management practices, and the ability to provide individual, group and family therapy.
- Knowledge of medical and pharmacology terminology.
- Skills to detect unusual patient behaviors through observing and assessing people who are at risk because of health problems, substance use, or other health-related problems.
- Must possess excellent writing skills in order to document the patient's condition and treatment plan in records.
- Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, supervisors, physicians and the general public and have the ability to work in a team-based environment.
