Responsibilities

Murdoch Developmental Center is a state residential facility serving people with intellectual developmental disabilities, located in Butner, North Carolina, near the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Research Triangle area. Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive, and functional abilities. The position is located in the Psychology Services Department. The department operates from a strong theoretical base in Applied Behavior Analysis. Responsibilities of the behavior analyst include the following:

  • completing behavior assessments, including functional behavior assessments, preference assessments, and evaluations of relative skill strengths and deficits.
  • developing and overseeing implementation of comprehensive behavior-analytic treatment plans, including training in adaptive skills, replacement behaviors, and decelerative procedures.
  • creating and monitoring data collection systems to assess for behavior change and to evaluate the results of intervention efforts.
  • training staff on plan implementation and procedures
  • participating in interdisciplinary team processes, including discussing orally and in writing behavior supports, proposed strategies for behavior change, and data-based results of intervention efforts
  • providing direct services to people served (e.g., specialized adaptive skill training programs, reinforcement procedures, etc.) as needed.

The behavior analyst will be assigned according to agency needs and will serve people with intellectual developmental disabilities who experience severe behavior challenges.

Scheduled work hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00PM, Monday – Friday. Flexibility is required to meet facility needs. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

To be considered for employment, applicants must be in good standing with the North Carolina Personnel Health Care Registry and the North Carolina Behavior Analyst Licensing Board.
