The UT Southwestern Medical Center Department of Psychiatry is seeking an outstanding Psychiatrist to join our clinical faculty and serve as Associate Chief for Psychiatry Emergency Services at Parkland Health. As Dallas County's only public hospital, Parkland Health's Emergency Department is one of the busiest emergency centers in the nation. The position will serve as the overall clinical service leader for Psychiatry Emergency Services and be responsible for the development and implementation of Emergency Psychiatry research and academic activities. The Associate Chief will partner with multidisciplinary emergency services leaders from emergency medicine, nursing, social work, and advanced practice providers. The role will include opportunities for supervision of faculty and supervision of trainees of various disciplines. This position includes dedicated medical administrative time with the specific clinical, educational, and research interests of the applicant, along with the needs of the department, ultimately determining the exact effort distribution of the selected faculty member.
Candidates must have an M.D./D.O. and be board certified or board eligible in General Psychiatry. While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection, it is a pre-requisite for starting in the position. The successful candidate will have previous clinical leadership experience and a demonstrated interest in pursuing an academic career. Academic experience and a strong track record of clinical teaching is a plus.
