Job Summary
The Substance Use Disorder Residential Counselor plays a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals residing in residential treatment, outpatient treatment, or other residential settings. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents by fostering independence from substance abuse, promoting social interaction, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, patient, and dedicated to the well-being of the residents.
Duties
- Monitor medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation.
- Monitor residents' physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes to the appropriate staff.
- Facilitate group activities that promote recovery and engagement among residents.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by adhering to DHCS standards.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and other staff members to develop individualized care plans.
- Support residents in achieving their personal goals and encourage participation in community activities.
Skills
- Proficient in Substance Abuse Counseling procedures and documentation.
- Experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, or similar environments is required.
- Knowledge of recovery practices and long-term care principles is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medication monitoring protocols.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with residents, families, and team members.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to improve the lives of others.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
