Reports to: Snr. Director of Wellbeing

Supervises: N/A

Hours and Schedule: 35hours/week; M, T, W, F (10am – 6pm), Th (12 pm – 8pm), some flexibility with daily schedule, some weekend events required.

Location: This position is In-Person, working from Spring Creek Towers in East New York, Brooklyn.

Under the direction of the Senior Director, Wellbeing, the Social Worker will provide wellness, counseling, and social services to program participants and community members. We seek an exceptional team member with a strong background in counseling, coaching, and case management. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and facilitator, able to build rapport with community members, and excited by the opportunity to shape a program. They will be looked to for leadership regarding the growth of our wellness and counseling initiatives for the community, ensuring that our services are aligned with best-practices and rooted in social justice, healing, and equity.

Responsibilities:

Develop Programming and Activities:

  • Collaborate with staff, supervisor, and leadership to create initiatives and programming to address unmet social-emotional, mental health, and wellness needs.
  • Design, develop, and implement workshops on self-care, wellbeing, and social-emotional learning.
  • Organize and lead community events and trips focused on increasing community wellness and access

Case Management and Referrals:

  • Develop and maintain a resource directory and referral network to ensure participants receive appropriate services either on-site or through external referrals.
  • Conduct follow-ups with individuals referred for ongoing therapeutic services to ensure they are connected with the appropriate resources and support

Provide Counseling Services:

  • Offer individual and group counseling to community members.
  • Offer social-emotional support for youth in our Teen Central and Young Adults Program.
  • Provide short-term counseling directly to participants and refer others to additional services as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant records for participants, including intake, case notes, attendance, and feedback.
  • Participate in department meetings and case conferences with other related parties.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field required, licensure preferred.
  • Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certification preferred or desire to become certified.
  • 5+ years of experience working at a social services or community-based organization; experience supervising interns.
  • Considerable experience providing counseling and wellness services.
  • Skilled multi-tasker, able to organize, manage and evaluate multiple activities and services.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community members.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately, considering diverse opinions, values, and cultures.
  • The ability to track and report on data is essential.
  • Bilingual English and Russian, Spanish, Mandarin or Haitian-Creole speakers encouraged to apply.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position starts is $63,500-$72,500 and is commensurate with experience.
