- Patient Care: Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for adult patients with a wide range of mental health disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and more.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, psychotherapy, or other therapeutic interventions.
- Medication Management: Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects, and adjusting treatment as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and primary care physicians, to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes using Wellstar’s electronic medical record system (Epic).
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention services as needed, including risk assessment and management of patients with suicidal or homicidal ideation.
- Consultation: Offer psychiatric consultations to other medical professionals within the Wellstar system, providing expertise on complex cases.
- Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in psychiatry by participating in continuing education, attending relevant conferences, and engaging in peer consultations.
- Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as Wellstar policies and procedures.
- Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Training: Completed residency in Psychiatry from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Current and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Georgia.
- Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
- Experience: Prior experience in outpatient psychiatric care is preferred but not required.
- Skills: Strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in using electronic medical records (Epic experience preferred).
