About Job

Job Description

Orchards Children’s Services leads Michigan’s efforts in keeping children and youth safe by strengthening families, preventing child abuse, neglect and exploitation, mitigating the harmful long term effects of childhood abuse/neglect, and promoting child and family well-being that is sustained over time. This is accomplished through delivery of services by our Community Based, Family Preservation, Foster Care, and Adoption Program Staff. Adhering to our mission to “Strengthen the community through quality services to children’s and families”, ensures that we are building on the strengths and resiliency of families and communities.

Position Details

The worker will carry a case load of up to 2 families whom are seen weekly for 10 hours face to face ( virtual platform and in person).

These families reside in Washtenaw county.

Traveling to assigned families homes occurs weekly and sessions are held within the assigned families’ homes and/or out in the community. This Case Worker will assist the family in accomplishing goals that have been created at the start of services by the DHHS and family designed to enhance family functioning and decrease risk(s). Strength based, solution focused, skills teaching model is used.

Using respect and empathy, you’ll deliver child-centered, family-focused and strength based services directly to youth and families, many with trauma histories. You will coordinate, conduct and document assessments, screenings and child and family meetings in homes or community settings. You will use a strength-based approach to inspire family members to execute the individualized behaviorally specific safety and treatment. You will use leadership skills to see that research based intervention plans are developed and implemented in the family’s home or community.

You will meet with families around their schedules, so some days may begin when school starts, while other days may end around dinner time. You will adjust your work day and week accordingly. Participation in non-traditional working hours with the families provides you with the opportunity to provide immediate support to a child and family in crisis, in order to mitigate the long term risk of harm.

Qualifications

A completed Bachelor Degree is required. If you have a Bachelor degree in social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, family studies, or family and/or child development, plus experience working with children and families, we encourage you to apply today. Applicants must also have reliable transportation.

This is a full time position, we do not offer part time employment.

You must have a Valid Michigan Drivers License at time of start date.
