As the Training Specialist, you will be responsible for the functions outlined below. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Support the Training Manager in implementing and maintaining company-wide training initiatives, with a focus on production floor engagement and shift coverage.
  • Deliver hands-on training sessions and job-specific instruction to hourly team members across all shifts.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining training content including SOPs, job aids, multimedia materials, and interactive modules.
  • Schedule, track, and report training activities using the Learning Management System (LMS); ensure records are accurate and compliant.
  • Observe and assess employees competence to confirm effective skill application and adherence to safety, quality, and standard work practices.
  • Facilitate one-on-one and group onboarding sessions for employees to reinforce Daniel Defense culture and expectations.
  • Conduct training audits and feedback sessions to measure retention, gather input, and support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in competency model development and maintain training matrices for assigned departments.
  • Provide day-to-day support of the LMS including uploading courses, maintaining user data, and troubleshooting user issues.
  • Collaborate with Safety, HR, and departmental leadership to align training priorities with organizational needs.
  • Recommend improvements to training tools, methods, or documentation to enhance learning outcomes and program efficiency.
  • Participates in the company’s efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associate degree in Education, Business, Training & Development, or a related field; or a combination of related experience, education and/or training to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 
  • 2+ years of experience supporting training initiatives, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct effective hands-on training and communicate technical processes clearly.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and training recordkeeping practices.
  • Experience creating training documents, visual aids, or digital content is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage diverse learners and support multiple shifts.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours to support training needs across all shifts.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and work with our Permission to Play Values.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
