Murdoch Developmental Center is a state residential facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities, located in Butner, North Carolina, near the Research Triangle area. Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive, and functional abilities. This position is responsible for the provision of social work services for Royall Cottage; a 48 bed co-ed non-ambulatory severe/profound Intellectual Developmental Disability Program.

This position will be administratively and professionally supervised through Murdoch’s Social Work Department. Position will render direct services through personal contact between the social worker and the client/family. Indirect services will include the completion of psychosocial evaluations and documentation of client progress via Electronic Health Record (EHR). The Social Worker will also assist with related duties concerning individuals and divisional needs as assigned by the Division Director. The Social Worker is a vital member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. Social Workers work directly with clients/guardians, professionals from other disciplines and paraprofessionals employed by Murdoch Center. This position will maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and other service providers.

This position requires a four year or higher degree from an accredited school of social work - Master’s degree in social work (MSW) or Bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW) as well as one year of social work experience. This is an ICF/IID requirement.

Required work schedule is 8:00 am–5:00 pm. Monday – Friday.

Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution;

  • Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus** Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
