Florida A&M University's Center for Academic Advising is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Academic Advisor/Counselor vacancy.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Counselor/Advisor include, but are not limited to: Assisting students with appropriate course selection and class registration; Engaging assigned students through a variety of communication streams; Utilizing a wide range of software and computer systems to track and analyze student progression and retention; Analyzing student data and taking appropriate action to promote student success including case management of at-risk students; Tracking the advancement of students to provide curricular management guidance and assistance for at-risk students; Assisting students with understanding careers within their academic major.
Providing information to students across university offices that may include admissions, financial aid, academic advising, career services, international students, and disability services; Building internal and external academic partnerships to enhance services provided to advisees; Making referrals from resources to assist in student's career and educational success; Serving as a liaison between students and the academic unit.
Providing guidance to enrolled students individually or in group settings regarding career decisions, degree plans, and transfer opportunities; Identifying skill gaps and advising students on relevant and available academic support resources to meet their needs; Working with and referring students for appropriate assistance in career development activities; Submitting student satisfaction surveys and other assigned reports monthly; Serving on committees as assigned; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in a professional setting.

Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships;
Ability to review and analyze student needs and recommend appropriate success strategies and referrals;
Ability to serve diverse populations and cultures;
Ability to work flexible hours including some evening and weekend hours consistent with student needs;
Ability to manage large amounts of information related to academic programs, University policies and procedures, and federal regulations;
Ability to work independently with little supervision; and,
Proficient with MS Office 365, PeopleSoft, and other software applications including Canvas and Civitas.
Anticipated Salary Range
From $43,260 To $43,260

This is a Faculty position.

Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment.
