What You Will Do

Plans and administers treatment for patients with physical or emotional disabilities, illnesses or injuries through the use of interview, cognitive tasks, physical conditioning, social skills programs, expressive media activities etc. in accordance with physician prescription.

Required Qualifications

• Other : Successful completion of an accredited Recreation Therapy Program.

  Previous professional experience in an Inpatient, Outpatient or community recreation Therapy setting.

  Patient carePerforms an appropriate assessment on all patients per the department guidelines and reassesses as per policy.Formulates a treatment plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.Utilizes a variety of treatment modalities to promote optimal patient functioning. Demonstrates the ability to select and/or modify modalities as needed.Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errorsDemonstrates knowledge and safe use of modalities, equipment and therapeutic procedures.Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met and hospital policy is followed.Designs, implements and evaluates treatment effectiveness recommending changes to physician as needed.
