Job Summary
Upward Bounds Behavioral Health Center is an addiction recovery center servicing adults facing the challenges of substance and mental health abuse. Upward Bounds Behavioral Health Center is looking for a Substance Abuse Counselor to join our growing team. This individual will be a vital member of our organization championing the recovery, advancement, and overall lifestyle skills of our clients. Our Addiction Counselor will need to demonstrate the ability to administer fervent counseling and have a fundamental knowledge of interventional substance abuse treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a comprehensive client assessment (Intake Assessment) identifying clinical provision, the intensity of care using ASAM criteria, and other treatment services needed
  • Thoroughly construct individual treatment plans per the clients' needs and oversee the progress, ensuring the clients' advancement in our programs
  • Identify core underlying issues that may be contributing to a history of substance abuse
  • Plan and lead effectual recovery education for individual and group sessions at our building Monday through Friday
  • Effectively maintain caseloads, ensuring all records are continuously up-to-date and properly documented
  • Swift management of discharge summaries and act as a liaison for client referrals
  • Maintain federal regulations for clients’ confidentiality
  • Meet weekly meetings with the Clinical Supervisor to discuss client charts
  • Attend training and staff meetings as required
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Director and/or CEO
  • Uplift and support patients, working with them and their families to help create realistic, lasting change
Qualifications
  • MUST be an ADT at minimum for consideration, CSC-AD, CAC-AD, or licensed counselor by the State of Maryland
  • Experience working with substance abuse desired
  • Solid ability to command a room, and lead constructively and inclusively to people from diverse backgrounds and upbringings
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity
  • Have a positive, compassionate attitude toward addiction recovery services and fully support Upward Bounds' mission
