The UHealth System at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker, MSW in the Social Services Department at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Core Job Summary

The Social Worker, MSW provides social services to patients and their families, including counseling and support. Moreover, this position establishes a plan of care that fosters personal worth, spiritual well-being, and human dignity in each patient.

Core Job Functions

  • Collaborates and facilitates patient discharge plans for those requiring post inpatient care.
  • Reassesses plan of care according to the physical and emotional needs of patient.
  • Performs patient assessment, including looking at illness, mental status, and family dynamics.
  • Documents relevant data accurately and in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Links patients and their families to appropriate community resources.
  • Serves as patient advocate and liaison to physicians, insurance companies, and community agencies.
  • Helps the patient and their family to understand, accept, and follow medical recommendations.
  • Provides clinical supervision and guidance to junior social workers.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Core Qualifications

Education:

Master's degree in relevant field required

Experience:

Minimum 1 Year Of Relevant Experience Required

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
