Summary

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Staff Psychiatrist to provide high-quality psychiatric care in an academic medical setting. This part-time position (20 hours per week) is benefits-eligible and offers the opportunity to provide high-quality psychiatric care in an academic medical setting. This role involves direct patient care, participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, and collaboration with trainees and other professionals across various clinical programs to provide services for the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) Program. The TCHATT Program provides telehealth to students in the Greater Houston Area.

Job Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and manage ongoing medication treatment.
  • Provide evidence-based psychiatric care to a diverse student/patient population.
  • Collaborate with the case management team to make sure families are able to access community resources, and care is transitioned to needed providers.
  • Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and other clinicians in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Document clinical care in compliance with institutional, regulatory, and program requirements.
  • Supervise and provide teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows assigned.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and educational activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Texas
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient care, education, and team-based practice


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an academic or teaching hospital setting
  • Interest in subspecialty areas (e.g., child/adolescent, consultation-liaison)
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
