This position plays an important role in expanding awareness and guiding students through the enrollment journey.University Recruitment at Tarleton State University is a collaborative team committed to increasing enrollment through a unified approach to student outreach. While individual roles are primarily focused on either undergraduate or graduate recruitment, all staff are expected to maintain a broad understanding of both areas. All team members contribute to on-campus and virtual recruitment efforts across Tarleton State University locations, including Stephenville, Fort Worth, Waco, and Texas A&M-RELLIS.This is a remote position based in San Antonio. The Regional Admissions Counselor must reside in the region and be able to travel locally for recruitment events and occasionally to other locations across the state, including Tarleton State’s multiple campus locations. General working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or as business needs indicate. This position requires a flexible work schedule with regular evening and weekend hours, especially during peak recruitment periods.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Recruitment and Student Engagement | 60%Serve as a first point of contact for prospective students, helping them learn about Tarleton State and navigate the early stages of the enrollment processRepresent the university at college fairs, school visits, transfer events, and community-based outreach in assigned regionsDeliver informative and engaging presentations for small and large groups in both in-person and virtual settingsDevelop relationships with counselors, advisors, and community partners to support outreach and provide helpful guidance throughout the enrollment journeyShare accurate information about academic programs, admissions requirements, financial aid, TSI, scholarships, housing, advising, and orientationParticipate in recruitment events with professionalism, preparation, and attention to event expectations and guidelinesManage travel logistics and event materials, ensuring readiness for setup, follow-up, and communication with prospective studentsAdministrative and Communication Support | 30%Communicate with prospective students across multiple channels, including text, call, email, and direct mailMaintain accurate records of outreach, travel, and recruitment activity using the CRM system and other engagement platformsReview and update student records to ensure data accuracy, identify errors, and support the integrity of the university’s prospective student databasePrepare and submit event summaries, travel documentation, and other required reportsCoordinate travel arrangements, including vehicle rentals, lodging, and meals, in accordance with university policiesComplete post-travel expense reports and ensure timely submission for reimbursementAdditional Responsibilities | 10%Support campus visits for prospective students, families, school personnel, alumni, and other guests, as neededAssist with on-campus events such as preview days, open houses, and orientation programsContribute to the planning and delivery of virtual events and information sessionsCollaborate on the development of student resources, presentations, and other contentStay informed on institutional updates and trends in higher education that impact student enrollmentContribute to process improvements and support special projects as assignedRequired Education and Experience· Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience· Three (3) years of experience in higher education, sales, marketing, event planning, or a related fieldRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCommunication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences professionallyOrganizational Skills: Balance multiple responsibilities, adapt to shifting priorities, and maintain consistency in a fast-paced environmentDetail Orientation: High attention to detail and a commitment to excellent student servicePresentation Skills: Comfortable with public speaking and delivering presentations in person and onlineCRM and Data Systems: Ability to use platforms such as Salesforce and Capture Higher Ed to manage prospective student engagement and support data accuracy across recruitment processesTechnology Proficiency: Comfortable using office productivity tools and travel-related software to complete daily tasks and submit reportsAdaptability and Initiative: Able to work independently in a remote setting while contributing to a connected, mission-aligned teamTravel Expectations: Ability to travel to a variety of work locations, including frequent overnight travelPhysical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time during recruitment eventsSchedule Flexibility: Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by recruitment events and operational needsEssential Regional FunctionsMust reside in San Antonio and be able to travel to campus 4-6 times per yearPrimary travel will be in South and Central Texas.Ability to work remotely with reliable internet access and space to store recruitment materialsMay need to use a personal vehicle for travel to events, with mileage reimbursed per state regulations· Must be able to work remotely with reliable internet access and space to store recruitment materials· New hire orientation and onboarding will take place in StephenvilleSalaryCommensurate with experienceSalary RangeThe target base annual salary range is $47,000 to $55,550 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
